Job Description:
Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends.

The position is for twelve months with the exception of scheduled vacation and paid holidays in accordance with the Faculty-Staff Handbook. Responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays but will include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.
Position Description: 
  • Teach the next generation of Christian aviation professionals.
  • Provide leadership in the development and improvement of flight courses.
  • Provide oversight of student flight training.
  • Prepare course materials and assessments.
  • Maintain an understanding of current technologies applicable to the courses being taught.
  • Actively pursue relationships with students, faculty, and staff encouraging the accomplishment of the purpose and mission of LeTourneau University and the School of Aeronautical Science.

LeTourneau University operates a flight training program as part of its Aeronautical Science Bachelor’s Program under 14 CFR part 141 and 61. Minimum professional qualifications are:

  • B.S. degree in aviation
  • Commercial pilot – airplane single-engine and multiengine land
  • Instrument rating – airplane
  • Significant tailwheel flight experience
  • Flight Instructor – Airplane single-engine land, Instrument Airplane
  • Flight time and experience required by 14 CFR Part 141 for an Assistant Chief Instructor of a commercial pilot training course.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team relationship
  • Ability to hold high standards with loving hands

Desirable professional qualifications and experience:

  • Flight Instructor – Airplane multi-engine land
  • Ground Instructor - Advanced and instrument
  • Airline or Military experience
  • Air Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Certificated Flight Instructor – airplane and instrument in single and multiengine
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate
