Description

KLM Line Maintenance has an opening for a permanent full-time position as an Aircraft Ground Engineer based at Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

Line Maintenance International organizes worldwide Line Maintenance activities on behalf of KLM and third parties for about 50 KLM line stations and 50 outsourced stations. For our line station in Toronto, Canada we are looking for:

Ground Engineer EASA Cat. B1

Description of the job:

As a Ground Engineer there are five key result areas

1) Inspections

­ Carry out the technical handling of an aircraft, within the scheduled ground time and in accordance with the carrier’s instructions.

  • Performs the checklist according to aircraft type and carriers instructions
  • Inspects the duties performed
  • Signs the AML/CML/ BOW for maintenance release

2) Analyzing defects and complaints

  • ­ Monitors email and ACARS (2) info from crew and/or Maintenance Control Center
  • Contact flight crew directly after arrival for debriefing
  • Checks logbooks for open items
  • Analyses defects and complaints
  • Decides if defects and complaints can be rectified immediately
  • Informs and consults home base and Maintenance Manager or Duty Engineer/Service Manager/Operations/Crew upon actions to be taken

3) Repair, technical handling and modifications

Repair and carry out technical handling or supervise maintenance and repairs of the aircraft.

  • Ensures availability and validity of work instructions (checklist)
  • Ensures correct and adequate stock control (spare parts and materials) and maintenance of ground equipment (if applicable), in accordance with company procedures
  • Plans and organises the repair process and deploys Mechanics
  • Performs or supervises repairs and technical handling
  • Communicates with home base and Service Manager/Operations/Crew about the progress of the repair or the modification process.
  • Inspects the repairs and modifications

4) Administration and accomplishment of tasks

  • Performs all administration related to the technical handling of the carrier, according instructions and procedures by the carrier
  • Maintains documentation and procedures per company and customer requirements and advises MM of non-conformities.
  • Maintains tooling and stores inventory per requirements
  • Performs tasks per company requirements as delegated by MM

5) Supervision of mechanics

  • Checks if duties are performed under safe conditions
  • Supervises all maintenance tasks
  • Coaches (Certifying) Mechanics

The candidates should hold the following qualifications & requirements:

  • Valid EASA Licences for aircraft type involved in the station Experienced in aircraft line maintenance
  • Successfully completed JAR 147 type training and meets experience requirements of 145 organisation.
  • Type training and experience on (at least three of) these types: B777, B787, A350, A321, A380, A330. With a preference of A321 + any others.
  • He / She must be fluent in English language, written and spoken.
  • Concern for excellence, customer service orientation, drive, integrity, judgment, self confidence, stress tolerance and technical skill & competence.
  • Team player with the ability to maintain customer focused attitude in a demanding and high pressure environment.
  • Willing to work varied shifts and weekends.
