What Will You Be Doing?

The Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is primarily responsible for managing, researching, and offering various alternative and ultimate conclusions related to technical accounting matters across the business. In addition, this position is responsible for the review of external financial statements, internal financial reporting, and all other compliance and regulatory reporting.

Essential Functions

  • 45% Technical Accounting Research
    • Review new accounting and reporting rules issued by the FASB, SEC, AICPA, EITF, and DOT and identify impacts relevant to the company.
    • Prepare initial technical accounting analysis memos regarding new accounting and reporting rules, and new company transactions.
    • Provide informal technical accounting consultation and support as matters arise.
  • 30% Financial Reporting
    • Assist in the timely preparation & review of internal, external, and compliance/regulatory reporting.
    • Assist in the timely preparation & review of the annual audited financials.
  • 10% Staff Administration
    • Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the financial reporting and technical accounting team.
  • 10% Accounting Review
    • Ensures compliance with internal policies/procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and SOX.
    • Lead update of internal policies, as needed.
    • Management of equity administration function (i.e. Based Compensation accounting, forecasting, and SEC filings, etc.)

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of Accounting experience; public accounting company experience desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant required
  • National public accounting firm experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with month-end closing and year-end audits

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and ability to interpret and implement new accounting pronouncements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, as well as an understanding of reporting databases, designs, and configurations, especially accounting software and reporting modules
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Confidential and professional manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and time limitations
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to manage, train, and develop staff in a respectful and effective manner
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate positively and effectively with subordinates, peers, and all levels of management

$100,000 - $120,000 DOE
